Shannon's Palette was named after Shannon County and the artist's palette. It literally means the "Colors of Shannon County." This theme can be seen throughout the shop with the fine paintings and drawings of local artist Hilma Hughes. There are paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor of local Ozark scenes and seasons of the year. Prints and note cards of Alley Mill are also available.
Hilma does work in pencil and pastel. She is best known for her work with pet and people portraits. Her forte is horse portraits, both heads and full bodies. Trail Riders bring horse photos and their live horses for her to draw. She takes a digital photo of your horse and completes a fine drawing of their animal. Dogs, cats, lamas, fighting chickens and cattle are only a few of the other animals she has done.
Hilma invites you to stop in and see the "Colors of Shannon County." You will be glad you did and will carry a rich memory of the area home with you. You can also reach her at 573-226-5655. Check out her website |
